Preamble:
17 Gladiators arrived bright and early (minus a few stragglers) at the East Roswell Park for WickaWicka’s VQ, uncertain of what beatdown he had in store for them. After a quick rundown of the rules, and a reminder that no one can sue the VQ or the park, everyone headed off on a quick mosey to the soccer field.
Warm-O-Rama:
We circled up on the soccer field for Warm-O-Rama, and living up to his name, WickaWicka, had recorded a DJ mix to play during the Beatdown. The exercises included:
- Side Straddle Hop (10x)
- Arm Circles (alternative rotation) (10ish each side)
- Mummy Kick (11x)
- Weedpicker (10x)
As a final bonus warm-up, we played a “Best of Three” game of soccer. The group split into two teams and took alternating turns attacking and defending. The attacking team had three minutes to score a goal, and if they didn’t then the defenders won the round. The winners proceeded to do 10 Mericans, 15 Squats, and a 30-sec plank, and the losers had to complete 20 Merican, 30 Squats, and a 60-sec plank. Unsurprisingly, our very own soccer phenom Manchester led his team to victory 2 to 1.
The Thang:
Four Corners (Choose Your Own Adventure)
Round 1: Each person was given four exercise, Squats, Mountain Climbers, Carolina Dry Docks, and Diamond Mercans, and instructed to complete one of those exercises each of the four corners of the Soccer Field. Everyone had to complete a set of 10, 20, 30, 40 reps, but each individual got to choose which exercise to do for each set. For example 10 Diamond Mercans, 20 Carolina Dry Docks, 30 Mountain Climbers, 40 Squats, or a different variation. In addition, everyone did lunges when walking the width of the field, and mosied along the length of the field.
Round 2: Rinse and repeat, but with double the reps. After completing Round 2, the gazelles did some Big Boy Situps while waiting for the 6th.
Bonus: Quick mosey over to the wall for two sets of Domino Wall Pushups.
With a few minutes remaining, it was back to the flag for some Mary.
COT:
Spandex: praise report for his sister, Cyndy. She’s doing better, but needs continued prayers.
Manchester: shoutout for his 30 day gratitude challenge
Apologies if anyone was missed!
