About a year ago, Walkie Talkie tugged on my heartstrings by telling me it was about to be his birthday and he was leading his workout group on his birthday (see attached pic of the actual text exchange!). This was about invitation #5 so I finally relented and figured I could consider it his birthday present. I also figured cake and ice cream would surely be served afterwards. When I saw it was going to downpour that morning I was convinced I would be spared from the 530am beatdown. Nah...these dudes workout rain or shine. Wild times.
A year later, Windjammer has become a regular routine for me. Wild times indeed.
Mosey to the dam. Willie Mays Hayes, SSH, Weed Pickers, Imperial Walkers, arm circles, covids.
Due to the rain last year much of the beatdown was at the sportspark under the gazebo (is that what it is called). For nostalgia, we started there for my 1 year anniversary Q.
Half the group went for a run while the other group stayed and completed exercises until the running group returned. Then the groups switched.
Misc Merkins (decline, incline, wide, diamond...whatever the PAX wanted).
We all met up at the rock pile. Split up again. Half the group went for a run up to the garbage cans while the other group stayed and completed exercises until the running group returned. Then the groups switched.
We all met up at the bball court. Ran suicides with a twist...at each line we did an exercise.
Repeat then back to the flag. Arrived right at 6:15am. As if the Q had been doing this for a year.
Breakfast at Windjammer 11/22 (day before Thanksgiving)
NLB beatdown and breakfast 12/2
Santa Ruck 12/9
Probably more. Busy times.
Time is flying. It has been a blast doing life with you all in the gloom. I appreciate all of you, despite some of your questionable sports fandoms (ahem Buckeyes). Looking forward to the next year. Cheers.
