Rainy day sufferfest
AO: Starting Line
PAX (7): Closets closets closets, DDoS, Glitter, Script Kiddie, Sirmixalot, Skipper, toadstool
YHC had the Q. There was some back and forth regarding the weather. I made a game time call. There was not really any lightning or thunder by start time. There was rain and lots of it. There was also a 100% chance of suffering. (And also “fun”)
Moseyed to the larger new pavilion where disclaimer was given.
SSH, Imperial Walker, Weed Picker (Low and slow), Sun Gods, Torso twists.
We did a Tabata workout. 10 Exercises for 45 seconds each, followed by 15 seconds of rest and preparing for the next exercise. After the 10 sets we got a 1 minute active recovery.
We were able to get in 4.5 rounds in total.
Round 1 – Merkins, WW2, Squat, Nolan Ryan, Leg raises, Lunges, Wide Merkins, Freddie Mercury, Copperhead Squats, Dips
Round 2 – Merkins, WW2, Squat, Nolan Ryan, Leg raises, Lunges (or step ups), Wide Merkins, Freddie Mercury, Copperhead Squats, Dips
Round 3 – Merkins, Big Boys, Squat, Nolan Ryan, Leg raises, Lunges (or step ups), Diamond Merkins, Flutter Kicks, Copperhead Squats, Dips (or rail plyo push ups)
Round 4 – Merkins, Big Boys, Squat, (I swapped the Nolan Ryan for something else here and for the life of me cannot recall what it was), Leg raises, Lunges (or step ups), Ranger Merkins, Flutter Kicks, Copperhead Squats, Dips
Round 5 (5 minutes left) – Low plank hold, 6 Inches, Air chair, Down dog, Cobra Pose, Horse stance – Then moseyed back to main pavilion
Announcements and prayers were shared
Skipper was there with coffee – he told us he would not be able to keep coming to the workouts. He is having some challenges pain wise physically (He is 68 years old even though we tried to make him 70) We had a discussion and said that he should continue to join us for coffeteria and he could modify completely if he wanted to come for the workout time.
It occured to all of us that a man still belongs in F3 even when he reaches an age where he can no longer participate in the beatdown. There was some discussion around creating an F3 Sierra Delta (Senior division) No one should ever age out of the Fellowship and Camaraderie that exists in F3 and no one should ever feel like they can no longer come to beatdowns even if the beatdowns are no longer possible for them in their present and permanent physical reality.
Then we reminisced about a bunch of military hijinks and other assorted nonsense.
Then we talked for a while to a Dawson county patrol officer about F3 and he expressed some interest.
Then it was off to greet our weekend.
I feel honored that I get to lead these men as a site Q and for workouts, but more than that I feel proud of the effort the PAX produce and their commitment to continue to be there for each other.
