Four Decades

AO: Academy

When: 01/03/2023

QIC: Mayhem

PAX (11): Cookie, Devito, HotSauce, lumbergh, MillerTime, Nacho Libre, Stroller, Turbine, uga, Bilge

Preamble:

Birthday Q! YHC was honestly touched, as we had perhaps  the biggest non-Ironpax turnout ever at Academy.  Great way to start off a birthday and the New Year.

And as YHC has officially entered the masters division, this morning I thought I’d take the PAX on a tour through the past four decades.

Warm-O-Rama:

Not on my watch.

The Thang:

Years 0-10 “Learning to Run”

Got to start with the basics and build up. YHC set up a 40 yard stretch in the parking lot, where PAX performed the following exercises in order:

1.Bear Crawl to the opposite line, then 10 Squats

2.Duck Walk back, 10 SSH

3. Lt. Dans to the opposite line, 10 Diamond Mercans

4. Sprint back, 10 BBS

Rinse and repeat for 15 mins.

10-20 – “Playing Sports”

Ah, the glory days.  For some of us,  this was the original Beatdown, where you formed that fellowship and made friends for life. After a quick mosey to the Track, we did a modified 4 corners.  At each quarter lap around the track, PAX completed an exercised based on a different sport from YHC’s youth.

Football: 10Up-downs

Basketball: 20 Bobby Hurleys

Soccer: 30 High Knees

Baseball: 40 American Hammers

For the last 100M stretch, we took a slight detour for a snake up/down the stadium stairs, then began the cycle over again.

20-30 “The Chase”

Careers, girls, family. PAX had a lot of different answers to what they were chasing in their 20s!

Mosey to the rock pile then partner up.  Partner one ran the “chase” (a lap around the track), while partner two completed the prescribed exercise.  Once P1 got back, flip-flop. Ended up getting in 3 rounds: Overhead Press, Curls, Burpees.

30-40 “Mid Life Crisis”

Are our best days behind us? Not for this crew! Time for some Bojangles Biscuits to show we can still pour on the speed.

With 5 minutes left, we mosey’d back to the flag for a few rounds of Mary.

COT:

Prayers for Buffalo Bills DB Damar Hamlin, who suffered a really scary injury last night. Hoping for good news.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

As I alluded to in the opener, very thankful for this group of guys.  You’ve held me accountable, motivated me when I needed a push outside the comfort zone, and been a safe place to talk when life took a turn.  You gentlemen are the best!
