Wheelbarrowmageddon

AO: The Wreck

When: 11/16/2022

QIC: aflac

PAX (10): Blue, Catheter, Echo, Grouch, Meltdown, Moonshine, rip, Rooney- timlonergan, Sell-out

Preamble:

YHC has made a conscious effort of late to dial things back in hopes of encouraging better PAX attendance, but Norm put a bug in his ear on Monday that couldn’t be ignored.  You know THAT GUY – the one who publicly wishes that BD’s were harder, yet fails to show for the truly hard ones.  Well, he was nowhere to be seen in the gloom on this seasonable Wednesday morning.

Warm-O-Rama:

As usual, backwards run up the main road to the first speed-bump, followed by running SSH’s (both sides), finishing with normal mosey until reaching the large parking lot for the following warm-ups:

  • Plank Jacks
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Abe Vigodas
  • Hillbillys

The Thang:

Q directed all PAX to fetch a lifting coupon and head for the football field, lining up along the sidelines around the 50-yard mark.  PAX next to you is your partner for the day, and instructions were given as follows:

  • Perform coupon exercise/reps as directed by Q.
  • Partner A wheelbarrows partner B to the first hash-mark.
  • Both PAX bear-crawl to the opposite hash-mark.
  • Partner B wheelbarrows partner A to the opposite side-line.
  • Both PAX perform 5 burpees.
  • Rinse/repeat the above on the return trip to the original sideline.

All PAX would stick together for each round.  Exercises/reps for each round as follows:

  • 50 Curls
  • 50 Overhead Press
  • 50 Rows
  • 25 Thrusters
  • 50 Skullcrushers

Q keeping score on how many rounds it would take for modifications to kick-in, and it didn’t take long.  Some exquisite mumblechatter as time went on, and Q lost count how many times he was told how much PAX really didn’t like him – all signs of heartfelt thanks for a quality BD.  Q reminded Moonshine on multiple occasions that payback for broad-jump burpees is indeed a bitch. Looking forward to see where he chooses to go with that.

With T-4 on the clock, return coupons and mosey back to the flag.  Plank for the six until time is called.

COT:

  • Prayer’s for the family of Q’s close friend and business colleague, Bill Favara, who left this life for the next late yesterday.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

The world lost a good one yesterday when YHC’s close friend and colleague succumbed to injuries that he received in an accident almost 4 weeks ago.  An acquaintance of nearly 26 years, Bill was an absolute renaissance man and overall stand-up guy.  A lover of fast cars and a fine red wine, Bill actually attended F3 at the Wreck once despite not being a runner in any remote sense of the word.  Unsurprising to no one, Bear kept a close eye on him during his one and only posting as he spent most of his time catching up with us.  Outside of the running, Bill loved everything about F3 and would often ask YHC how a BD went during the worst of weather days.  In a sense, he lived vicariously through us all, always inquiring about CSAUP event shenanigans and outcomes.  While heaven may have gained a HIM of the highest order, his presence on this good earth will be greatly missed.
