Preamble:

10 PAX arrived on time and ready for a little history lesson and math exercise at the Windjammer.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the dam.

SSH’s, Weed picker, Imperial Walkers, Covids, Arm Circles, Mtn Man Poopers led by false start, naturally.  But wait, False Start is on a trip with his son so YHC effectively led the pooper.

Mosey to the boat launch, circle burp with 10 PAX calling Down.  Zohan must have forgot it was his turn to go first…

The Thang:

On this date in 1947 – The Yankees beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 5-3 in the first televised game in World Series History.  First World Series to feature a black player, as Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier 6 months earlier.

Grab coupons from the dam rock pile.  Break into 2 teams.  Collectively, as a group, we will be doing 1,947 reps in total.  I’ve been inspired by Zohan.  1 Team runs up & down the dam hill while the other team collectively counts reps.

  • 1000 x Curls for the Gurls / Skull Crushers
  • 900 x Squats / Lunges (Single Count)
  • 47 x Burpees (together as a team)

Also on this day, in 1927, Babe Ruth hit his record-making 60th home run of the season.  This stood for 34 years.  After the Red Sox sold Ruth to the Yankees, Boston did not win a title for another 85 years.   As a group, we will perform:

  • 60 x E2K’s (30 each side)
  • 85 x Dips
  • 85 x Calf Raises
  • 34 x Mercans

Mosey back to the flag (scenic route), then circle up for some ‘round the horn Mary led by PAX…Mike Tysons, Dollys, Weed Pickers, & LBCs…theeeennnnn TIME.

COT:

Prayers out to a fellow HIM’s M  & Funyon’s co-worker who are battling health issues.

Prayers out to all our countrymen in Florida battling the effects of Hurricane Ian.  Many lost their homes, property and livelihoods b/c of this storm.

Calling all PAX for the Santa Ruck.  Milli Vanilli & Lumbergh are co-sponsoring the lead this year with YHC volunteering to help too.  Walkie-Talkie generously agreed to volunteer even though he will be out of town that weekend 😉

Naked-Man Moleskin:

We had a great impromptu TNT today starting with the reco for the book “Comfort Crisis”

This led to questions and a great story by one of our newest Windjammers @maytag sharing his story about his family coming to America 10 years ago, starting their own businesses and thriving.  More PAX shared the fact it’s easy to take for granted how great we have it here in America, but speak to some folks who’ve immigrated from less fortunate parts of the world and get their perspective before being quick to call this a terrible place to live.  Sure, there are problems out there (if you go looking for problems, you’ll find them) – but all in all – we have it pretty great here.
