State of Champions

AO: Windjammer

When: 09/02/2022

QIC: Cookie

PAX (9): Caroline, Maytag, Milli Vanilli, Townie, uga, Walkie Talkie, Rollback, Mayflower

Preamble:

With football season upon us less than a month away from playoff baseball, YHC took it upon himself to celebrate champions of years past.  Yep, we went all the way back to 2021 to celebrate the CFB National Champs and the MLB World Series Champs.  It so happened they were both hometown teams, so let the celebration commencement begin.

7 PAX initially answered the call and off into the gloom we went.  Just after warmup, 2 more PAX would join us including 1 FNG.  So a 2nd disclaimer was said and the games continued.

Warm-O-Rama:

Head over to the Dam for 33 SSH and 18 Imperial Walkers…. which happened to be the score in the Natty last year.  12 Weedpickers were next which signified UGA’s first touchdown and last touchdown of the season, both on pick 6’s.  Indian Run back to the main parking lot.

The Thang:

Now that all 9 of us were here, it was time for the THANG.  10 reps of each, escalating by 10 each time.  That number stood for the average points that UGA’s defense gave up last season, which was #1 in the country.

Next up was another acronym.  This time we would do reps of 7 with them stacking and escalating each time, doing 7, 14, 21, etc.   The number 7 stood for the final score in Game 6 (7-0) of the World Series when the Braves closed out the Astros for good.

Now that we finished the main event, it was time to show our RNG and FNG who arrived late (not their fault) the Windjammer AO’s best asset, the lake with the sunrise beginning in the distance.  So we took a mosey back to the dam for a warmdown including the Windmill and the Full Chubb (aka Morning Wood aka Turkish Getup).  Now back to the flag for 2 mins of Mary.

COT:

Prayers were spoken for a few family members ailing.  Praise was offered for our RNG Rollback who returned to the gloom and for bringing his FNG friend Andrew.  We gave him the name Maytag because he owns an appliance repair business.

Coffee and TNT followed.  YHC shared a passage from Luke that was read last Sunday at Church.  It called for us to be humble, for those that are will be exalted by God.  And the reverse is true.  This is very much true in all things of life.  YHC struggles with this at times and sure enough I am always humbled as a result.  Same goes for believing too much in our favorite sports team!   Or our golf game, or anything else.  If you are humble, God will glorify you.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Honored to lead.
