A Guest Q at my Home AO

AO: Gladiator

When: 06/24/2022

QIC: Speedo

PAX (10): Cheneral, Dinghy, DREAMER, Macbeth, Mater, RaspberryPi, Scratch-Off, Speedo, TheBigShort, Brownie

Preamble:

Another hot sticky morning didn’t scare away 3 pre-runners and another 7 PAX at the Gladiator this morning.  Brownie came prepared to deliver a tough beat down but agreed to put it on ice until next week when he was officially on the schedule.  With our subregion Q visiting us today, we were all on our best behavior (well as good as it gets).  Our new site Q had advertised a “Guest Q” for today so I didn’t want to disappoint. As 5:15 was approaching, YHC gave a spirited disclaimer, and we were off.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the newly named Pavilion 195 (P195) parking lot.  There is a sign at the end of the parking lot up there that says 195 feet and YHC somehow just saw it for the first time this morning.  Warmup included:

  • SSH x12 IC
  • Weed Pickers x10 IC
  • Hillbillies x12 IC
  • Copperhead squats x12 IC
  • Michael Phelps/Covids/Huggies (for Raspberry) OYO

The Thang:

PAX were instructed to partner up as we headed to P195 for some Dora.  P1 did the exercise while P2 ran the short parking lot loop.  Exercises with cumulative reps included:

  • 75 derkins
  • 100 walkovers (walk up and over the picnic table = 1)
  • 125 dips
  • 150 monkey humpers

Gazelles were told to perform one of the four exercises for the six.

After a walking 10-count we moseyed to the far pitch for card-up-my-sleeve Blackjack.  Starting on the sideline, PAX did 20 big boy sit-ups then ran to the other sideline for 1 HR merkin.  On the way back to the first line YHC quickly realized that due to time constraints the PAX wouldn’t be able to enjoy the full misery of a lot of HR merkins, so a modification was called where we did 19 BBSUs then ran and did 19 HR merkins.  Back and forth we went until the gazelles finished their round of 15.

After another walking 10-count we moseyed to the other pitch and lined up on the goal line.  YHC called out a series of travel methods and destinations as follows:

  • Lunge walk to the top of the penalty box
  • Bear crawl to the midline
  • Crab walks to the top of the other penalty box
  • Broad jump to the other goal line

Going the other direction:

  • Bunny hops to the top of the penalty box
  • Crawl bear to the midline
  • Frog jump to the top of the other penalty box
  • Bernie back to the goal line

Next, we moseyed back towards the other end of the field.  Each time YHC yelled SPRAWL PAX had to drop to the turf, spread out their hands and legs then hop back up.  Many thanks to Jorts from Halo for introducing me to this sadistic movement.

Finally, on the far goal line, PAX were instructed to give at least a 75% effort to sprint all the way to the other end of the field.

Back to the flag for a bit of mary called out by assorted PAX until time was called.

COT:

No Longer Bound beat down and dinner on Saturday, July 23.  Awesome opportunity to meet other men who are working hard to overcome addictions and other challenges. Check Slack for details.

2nd F opportunity on Thursday, July 21 – Cryotherapy and other fun at the Ice Box (off Mansell near 400 I think).  Check Slack for details.

Prayers for Dingy’s job search and for peace in the waiting.  Prayers/praise for Raspberry’s 2.0 on the way.  Prayers for safe travels for those on the road.  Prayers for wisdom for us all as we face many uncertainties in life.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Thanks for allowing me to lead this morning.  It was hot and I was gassed at the end (and the middle and near the start).  I really love this group (even as a guest Q) and appreciate your friendship, fellowship, and support.  I have much to be thankful for and you all are high on that list.
