Preamble:

Started the morning out with a disclaimer that the Q was DEFINITELY not a professional since this was only the second workout he led; however, Q humbly pontificated that he really always leads…by example.

Q also informed the large gaggle of PAX  that beat down was called the Death Star but Q has very limited knowledge of Star Wars…more on that to follow!

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the center of the Pitch for an army-style warm-up. The Q has suggested on several occasions that he would do an army-style workout but the closest we got today was some inspirational cadence on the Bent-Leg-Body-Twist. We did revisit the Star Wars theme with some Imperial Walkers!

Squat bender – 10, Windmill – 10, Prone Row – 10, Bent Leg Body Twist – 10, Imperial Walker – 10, Side Straddle Hops – 10

The Thang:

Q coached PAX to stay together in order to defeat the Death Star; so we remained in a rotating X-wing formation (Indian Run) all the way to the Rock Pile. After arriving at the middle of “the big hill,” Q wisely surmised that PAX would need to go “up” to get to the Death Star. PAC began a 7-rung Jacob’s Ladder (hill sprints) with descending burpees to find our way. After PAX completed half the ladder, Q announced that the Death Star had been surprisingly easier to breach that expected and we had to return to the pitch to commence our battle with the dark side.

The PAX returned to the pitch together in X-wing formation (Indian Run) and completed a 6 station attack on the Death Star.

Stations: 30 Big boys, 30 Hand release Merkins, 30 Freddie Mercuries, 30 Carolina Dry Docks, 30 Gas Pumpers or V-Ups, 30 Makhtar N’Diayes

Mission Instructions: Sprint to station with your platoon and rendezvous back in center after completing battle at each station.  Return to center with: Bear Crawl, Crawl Bear, Crab Walk, Walk Crab, Broad Jump, Buttkickers. Upon return, there is a 3-burpee code for entry and planking/Al Gore/Air Chair for the 6.

After defeeating the Death Star, PAX did X-wing Run around the perimeter of the field and back to the flags for 7 minutes of Mary (or Princess Leia?) Half of this mission was missed by the Q due to forgetting his phone on the pitch, but it looked like Brownie did some exponential Jack Webb, there was some good stuff in the middle, and the Q finished it off  with Onos (NOT Bonnie Blairs – thanks guys) and Monkey Humpers.

COT:

Prayers for DC2 on his Trek

Prayers for Cheneral as he preaches at this church this Sunday

Praise and Gratitude to have WickaWicka back at the Gladiator for the first time since the new kidney!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Q shared that mental health struggles have been on the rise and continue to impact our community.

Q called on the men in the group to reach out to one another for help when they are struggling and reminded the PAX that we have collectively been through what many of the men in the group may be facing. Put out a call for vulnerability and prayed that we would continue to grow into a community that could lean on one another for inspiration and support – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

You guys continue to inspire me to be better every day – see you for the anniversary on Tuesday!
