D-day Bear Crawls to Take Bethany Bend

AO: Norseman

When: 06/07/2022

QIC: Ha-ha

PAX (9): Callahan, Crikey, DeLorean, Ha-ha, Password 123, Pepper, Striper, Stu, Walkie Talkie

Preamble:

D-Day +1 and 78 years.  175,000 men landed on the beach in Normandy France that day. The largest amphibious assault ever.  5,333 ships supported the action in the English Channel. Many of those men never made it off the beach. We will honor them today.

Warm-O-Rama:

A mosey up to the big lot for:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Baby Arm Circles
  • COVIDs

We will need the extra arm circles this morning for the shoulders.

The Thang:

We stepped out into the street and looked north.  The men on the beaches of Normandy could not stand up and walk up the beach without getting shot at so we are going to move forward by bear crawl today.

Bear Crawl Catch Me If You Can BLIMPS

Partner up.  Partner one bear crawls toward Bethany Bend. Partner 2 works on the exercises for that round:

  • B Burpees x5
  • L Lunges x10
  • I Imperial Walkers x15
  • M Merkins x20
  • P Plank Jacks x25
  • S Squats x30

Start with the Burpees. Partner 1 bear crawls while partner 2 does 5 Burpees. Afterwards run and catch your partner who does his 5 while partner 2 bear crawls. Continue with Burpees and Lunges.  The Burpees, Lunges and Imperial Walkers… etc.

Callahan and Crikey were out performing everyone. We had to clear for cars at least twice.

Striper, this should have made is day with low mosey! But we did have 2 exercises that were Alpha count.

I think Callahan and Crikey paid the Germans not to shoot at them.

After we all collected at Bethany Bend I asked the trivia question: How many men a buried at the American Cemetery at Normandy? Answer: 9,387. You can see this cemetery at the beginning and end of Saving Private Ryan.

Back at the flag:

  • LBC
  • Flutters
  • Freddy Mercury

COT:

We owe so much to so many who have come before us. The “Greatest Generation” did their part when called. It is humbling to hear them speak about it and say that they were not heroes but were just doing what had to be done.

May we live lives that are worthy of their sacrifices.
