Preamble:

A number of things relating to Roswell beat-downs have been nagging YHC recently, and they generally fall into 3 categories:

  • Relative to its Bad Apple and Atlas brethren, the Wreck has a bit of a rep as a “mostly running” AO.  It’s a common complaint that certainly has some merit.
  • Some PAX have started skipping F3 and instead are going back to the gym (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE).  Excuses range from wanting to mix in a “weight day” to not making the strength gains they are looking for via F3.
  • Most PAX want a mix of cardio/strength during the week (alternating days is a popular choice).

With a Q coming up, YHC hatched a plan to bring the heavy equipment in hopes that the Wreck PAX would pick one day a week for focused/intense coupon work going forward.  No sense in replicating what’s already been done with the 35 pounders – time to put on the big-boy pants with Q sponsoring 52lb coupons for the first 20 attendees.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey up the main road, starting backwards to the speed-bump then alternating moving SSH’s until reaching the rec center exit.  Continue mosey toward the large parking lot for the following warm-ups:

  • Abe Vigoda’s
  • Slow Squats

Some mumble-chatter amongst the PAX about YHC’s vehicle parked at the far end of the lot with a loaded trailer (THAT’S NO MOON).

The Thang:

Q directed all PAX to retrieve a coupon, head to the far end of the parking lot and partner up (with each group grabbing a piece of rope).  As YHC queued up some Primus Radio on Spotify, PAX started things off easy:

  • Partner A would drag the coupon backwards (via the rope) for 30yds and back while Partner B performed alternating sets of 10 Curls/25 LBC’s.
  • Rinse/repeat until each PAX has gone 3 times.

Next up:

  • Partner A would drag the coupon backwards (via the rope) for 30yds and back while Partner B performed alternating sets of 10 “cleans” (lift coupon from ground to alternating shoulder) and 15 LBC’s.
  • Rinse/repeat until each PAX has gone 3 times.

Time to ramp it up a bit (modifications starting to set in at this stage):

  • Partner A would bear/block (bear-crawl w/coupon) for 6 parking spots and back while Partner B performed alternating sets of 12 Overhead Press/15 LBC’s.
  • Rinse/repeat until each PAX has gone 3 times.

Turning up the dial once again:

  • Partner A would bear/block (bear-craw w/coupon) for 8 parking spots while Partner B performed alternating sets of 10 Squats/15 LBC’s.
  • Rinse/repeat until each PAX has gone 3 times.

With T-10 on the clock, time to finish with a flourish – Q directed all PAX to push coupon for 20 parking spots, then perform 15 Rows and 15 Overhead Press.  Rinse/repeat for the entire parking lot.  Mumble-chatter was abundant at this point.

For a final push, rinse/repeat coupon push to the stop sign with another round of 15/15.  With Rooney being an outlier, the majority of PAX were overly concerned about time and proximity of the flag given their coupon accompaniment at this point.  Q’s response was simple – push once more to the speed-bump, then back to the flag (w/coupon) in the most expeditious manner possible.  Little did YHC know but it would take PAX a WHOLE 5 MINUTES to get back, thus we ran over by 2 minutes.

COT:

  • TAPs for Momma Blue and Choo-choo’s FIL.

AFLAC out.
