Preamble:

My mind was not clear this morning. Some family drama last night that left a bad taste at the end of Mother’s Day. I wanted, I needed, this morning to clear me thoughts.

I woke up early, not enough for a Pre-Run but enough to run around the park and validate the route I was going to take. Made some last moment updates.

1 for the Pre-run: Stoller.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey to the roundabout, with some burnie sanders and side shuffles along the way. Circle up in the nearby grassy area for Weed Pickers, Imperial Walkers, World’s greatest stretch and Mountain Climbers. OYO arm circles as we approach the nearby wall. No SSH. I checked and they are not a core principle.

The Thang:

We grabbed positions in front of the wall. OYO 10 Donkey Kicks, hoist yourself up the wall and run down from the side. Repeat for the total of 5 rounds. People chair for the 6.

A long mosey toward the pond. We stopped at the top of the stairs and Bear Crawled down the stairs. Always a crowd pleaser!

We gathered at the pavilion and grabbed a sit. Not to sit on, of course. 10 IC Derkins, 10 IC Dips and 10 IC Squats.

Done with the appetizers, we’re ready for the main course.

Main Thang:

20 Burpees, 5 alpha count Bonnie Blairs, run a lap around the pond.

15 Burpees, 10 alpha count Bonnie Blairs, run a lap around the pond.

…10 and 15 and then 5 and 20.

Lots of grunts throughout.

YHC run the loop earlier, without a headlight, since I lost it. It wasn’t hard to see the trail even though there wasn’t any moon. What YHC didn’t consider is that after our eyes adjusted to the light in the pavilion stepping out to the trail it seemed much darker. Only 2 PAX had a headlight. That’s a lesson to remember.

Thankfully we did not hear any ‘flop’ followed by splashing waters and such and everyone were counted for.

Raspberry Pi led a Mary for the 6.

We finished with an aperitif – another round of Derkins, Dips and Squats, 10 IC each.

After a brief walking 10 count we resumed our mosey in the park and run to the parking lot next to the tennis courts for a modified Apple Turnover.

Bear Crawl 4 parking lot spaces, Crab Walk 4, Lung Walk 4. Bear Crawl 3 spaces, Crab 3, Lunge 3, then 2-2-2 and 1-1-1. Plank for the 6.

Moseyed the short distance back to the flag and circled up. YHC called 1 minute of holding a low plank. We recovered and went down again for another minute. The (almost) 20 seconds in between were under-appreciated based on the mumble chatter but everyone complied.

We continued the Mary with 20 Big Boys, 10 IC Merkins and a foolish attempt by YHC to perform V-Ups, who gave up after 5 IC of them. 10 OYO Monkey Humpers later we were done.

 

COT:

Prayers for Dinghy’s family, as his aunt lost her father.

Prayers for Ballboy who’s mom is facing the imminent loss of her mom.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

At the COT I did not share about the family drama we had. Not sure why. Maybe because it’s not the first time and to an extent I’m tired of talking about that. But even with no shared words, this group has been a life saver for me. Every morning in the gloom is an opportunity to refocus, reconnect and recharge. I do appreciate it very much!
