The Apes Take the Gloom

AO: The Hooch

When: 02/28/2022

QIC: BallBoy

PAX (15): Animal, BallBoy, Birdie, Boomer, Decaff, Jetson, Maguire, McCracken, Popper, PuffDaddy, Ready-Mix (F3), Saint2O, Scrooge, Sugar, Sunshine

Preamble:

Alarm fail (as in I ignored my alarm) and YHC did not make the pre-run as planned. Saint20 and Decaf took care of that for me though… nice work.

Warm-O-Rama:

Quick warm up with some…

SSH
Toy Soldiers
Windmills
Weedpickers

We moseyed the long way around the parking lot with some slides, high knees and butt kickers till we reach the wall at the lower entrance.

The Thang:

At the wall we limbered up with 4 round of 4 exercises. 20 reps each the first round, then 15, 10 and 5. Exercises were:

  • Derkins
  • Step ups
  • Dips
  • Bulgarian Split Squats

After an Air-Chair for the 6, the PAX moseyed to the theater for some rare fun. The PAX were asked to partner up, preferably older guys with newer guys (notice I said newer guys, not younger guys). However, a certain pair from Farmbrook decided to form a speed squat to make us look bad. I think Boomer was trying to pick up a ringer for what was about to occur.

Partner 1: Run up the middle sidewalk, touch the brick on the far end, and return to your partner
Partner 2: 20 Mercans and then Gorilla Crawl (Scrooge being our ‘crawl’ ringer) toward your runner
Once the partners reunite, roles are reversed and 1 Mercan is removed. This pattern would continue until the Gorilla had reached the crosswalk. Fun was had and we really looked like a herd of damn dirty apes (channeling Charlton Heston).

PAX then gathered in the rotunda (?) and selected a column.
P1: Balls to the Wall until FAIL
P2: Wall sit until all BBTWs had tapped out
Switch and repeat. I said the winners got nothing, but you get a shout-out here. Kudos to Jetson and Boomer!

Last thang, short mosey to the back parking lot still keeping with our partner theme:
Partner 1: Mountain Climbers
Partner 2: Quick loop around the first island and back
Switch, and repeat until both partners had done 10 laps. A little Mary for the 6 and then a mosey back to the flag.

We finished with some Monkey Humpers (sticking with the Simian theme) and Copperhead Squats

COT:

Prayers for Blissett family and for Splinter’s trip to Tanzania.  Big thanks to those who organized, ran, donated, cheerleaded for the Climb Kili event this month!
