Oh God, No

AO: The Wreck

When: 01/17/2022

QIC: aflac

PAX (8): Blue, Catheter, MillerTime, Moonshine, Squeegee, Tubbs, Yankee

Preamble:

Nothing warms Q’s heart more than eliciting an “oh God, no” from PAX when announcing an exercise.  Such was the recurring theme this morning.

Warm-O-Rama:

Q led PAX on a slow mosey up the main road toward the large parking lot adjacent to the two football fields, seeking shelter from the wind for the following warm-ups:

  • SSHs
  • Weed-Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers
  • Slow Squats

The Thang:

With a stack of plastic plates in tow, Q directed PAX toward a snow-covered LAX field and instructed them to pair-up based upon ability.  To get things moving, Q announced a fun modification on catch-me-if-you-can to take advantage of the winter conditions.

Instructions were given as follows:

  • Partner A would Bear “Slide” (sliding with hands on plastic plates) around perimeter of field, while Partner B performed 15 Merkins.
  • Once completed with Merkins, Partner B would run forward and catch Partner A where they would switch roles.
  • Rinse/repeat around the entire perimeter of the field.

This was an absolute sleeper of an exercise, with hip-flexors failing on most PAX near the end and plenty of modifications.  Mary for the six.

Next up, Q directed all PAX to the goal-line to announce an exercise that was sure to elicit some mumble-chatter.  Instructions were given as follows:

  • Partner A would “wheel-slide” Parter B 25yds (like a wheelbarrow, but Partner B would slide on the plastic plates instead).
  • Switch roles after 25yds.
  • Rinse/repeat for 200 total yards.

Some strategy involved here so as to pick a track that avoided bare spots that often resulted in face-plants.  After the first 50yds, PAX started to get the hang of it.

Once completed, Q directed PAX to the nearby wall for a quick round of 7’s, with the following format:

  • 6 Mike Tysons on the wall.
  • Bear Slide on the plates to the hash(ish) mark.
  • Perform 1 Big Boy sit-up.
  • Lunge Walk back to the wall.
  • Rinse/repeat the above until completed.

With 15 remaining on the clock, Q instructed PAX to pair-up once again and head for the far end-line for a wheel-slide grand-finale.  Each PAX would go for 50 yds this time, ensuring that we crushed the core before moving on.

Once completed, YHC directed PAX to gather all plates and head toward the playground for a quick round of Morning Call (with audible for 5 Pull-Ups or 10 Merkins), while PAX performed shrugs with the picnic tables.  Credit to Yankee for his unique ability to “rest” the table on his supple backside.

After everyone had a turn, head back to the flag for a proper round of Mary culminating in a proper set of Diamond Merkins before time was called.

COT:

  • Prayer’s for YHC wife’s sister, who needs guidance and wisdom as her family determines the best path forward with their autistic son.

AFLAC out.
