Carrying the Beast of Burden – I’ve walked for miles, my feet are hurting

AO: Starting Line

When: 01/15/2022

QIC: Sirmixalot

PAX (5): Janeway, LifeLøck, Lightweight, Script Kiddie, Sirmixalot

Preamble:

YHC arrived early for a pre-ruck to find the PAX ready to roll out. All 5 of the PAX that HC’d for the BD were there for the Pre. We kept a good pace for the pre ruck and got in a couple of solid miles. We all contemplated the impending doom of the oncoming storm of the century…Making the turn back into the park we were all curious what other PAX might be there for the workout.

Warm-O-Rama:

As it turned out all the PAX for the pre were all the PAX for the BD so they got a double ruck BD. They were all sufficiently warmed up. YHC put on one layer too many.

The Thang:

After a quick disclaimer we were off for round two. Except this time we took along a friend. YHC has been wanting to play with his new toy so we carried along the “Beast of Burden”. Each PAX took turns carrying the heavy sandbag. Since we were one ruck short we played musical ruck each time we switched owners of the sandbag. We all found carrying the sandbag to be a significantly taxing event.

Throughout the course of the Ruck we discussed lots of Q-source material. Also the idea that “Each man must carry his own load (ruck)” but that “we bear each others burdens (sandbag) Lots of thought proviking discussion ensued throughout our time together.

As a finisher we each took turns going up and down “hell hill” in front of City Hall. All the PAX went up and down with the carrier of the bag (with rucks of course) This was no joke and worth trying again.

We made it back to the flag just in time and did a few final merkins to wrap up.

COT:

We had time for a quick COT before Lightweight and Lifelock had to bug out. Wrapped up with some good coffeteria time and discussion.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Really enjoyed leading the workout today. I always enjoy being with this group of guys and they always push me to be better.
