Veterans Day Boot Camp

AO: Norseman

When: 11/11/2021

QIC: TMI

PAX (14): Beaker, Callahan, Dr. Rico, Ha-ha, HotSauce, Huckleberry, Nacho Libre, Shooter, Speedo, Striper, TMI, Untouchable, Bottom Bunk, Pepper

Preamble:

You can’t have boot camp without your pack! We all got girlfriends from Ha-Ha’s truck and did a Cadence Run to the big parking lot to the sounds of an Army Drill Sargent! Song:

  • Black Cat, “50 Running Cadences of the US Army”

Warm-O-Rama:

After we dropped our packs:

  • 10 Side Straddle Hops
  • 10 Imperial Walkers
  • 10 weed pickers

The Thang:

We divided into two teams and did Team Murphs — modified because, well, because I can’t do many pull-ups and I was Q. Besides, we don’t have any pull-up bars. One Murph was:

  • 7 parking lot laps (1 mile)
  • 10 sets of 10 overhead presses (100)
  • 10 sets of 20 merkins (200)
  • 10 sets of 30 squats (300)
  • 7 hill assaults (1 mile)

This was in any order, on your own, counting together for the team’s Murphs. We checked a box on the wall of pain when we did a lap or set. 15 minutes with Patriotic/Veteran’s day songs:

  • Rocky Theme
  • God Bless the USA
  • Fightin’ Side of Me
  • Born in the USA.

Next, 21 gun salute with fireworks: There weren’t 21 of us, so we had to make do with 14 guns. Monkey humpers till the end of the song. When we heard “USA”, fireworks went off and we all did a star jump.  Song:

  • Surfin’ USA!

Back to Modified Team Murphs! This time, one murph was:

  • 7 parking lot laps (1 mile)
  • 10 sets of 10 merkins (100)
  • 10 sets of 20 curls (200)
  • 10 sets of 30 single count lunges (300)
  • 7 hill assaults (1 mile)

15 minutes more with Patriotic/Veteran’s day songs:

  • Sweet Home Alabama
  • The Devil Went Down to Georgia
  • Some Gave All, Billy Ray Cyrus
  • Ragged Old Flag, Johnny Cash

Yes, we used workout music by both Billy Ray Cyrus and Johnny Cash! I considered also using Party in the USA by Miley, but figured I’d get lynched if I did.

In total (counting both types) each team did about 3 Team Murphs.

We put our packs back on and did a Cadence Run back home. Song:

  • 1 2 3 4 Hey, “50 Running Cadences of the US Army”

We finished with a set of LBCs.

COT:

We had a thank you to all of our Veterans.

  • Santa Ruck December 11
  • Norseman AO will be closed on Thanksgiving morning.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Many of us have special memories of Veterans who were close to us or were parents/grandparents/great…great-grandparents.  We shared some of those experiences.
