Pain in the Rain

AO: Firehouse

When: 10/05/2021

QIC: Goldberg

PAX (8): Ace Ventura, Baskins, Crumpet, Dunshire, Goldberg, Lifelock, Lightweight, Sirmixalot

Preamble:

As YHC arrived to Firehouse (right behind Dunshire), we saw Ace Ventura pre-running by himself in the rain–a foreshadow of what’s to come. Cue “All by Myself” by Eric Carmen on the playlist… ♫”All by myself…”

Warm-O-Rama:

Right on time, we mosey’d down to the ‘normal spot’ for a quick warm-up. If the PAX weren’t wet already, the quick jaunt around the corner gave everyone the assurance that today would be like none other. Cue “The Rain Song” by Led Zeppelin…. ♫”Just a little rain, oh, yeah”

After the standard disclaimer, we started the work.

15 Side Straddle Hops

15 Moroccan Night Clubs

15 Copperhead Squats

15 Willie Mays Hays

The Thang:

We mosey’d down the lower sports field to begin the beatdown. Yup, still raining… Cue “Only Happy When it Rains” by Garbage… ♫”Pour your misery down on me”♫

Thang 1: Suicides, Kind of…

Start at the goal line.

  • Run to the first major line in the field (line marking the goal box) and back to the goal line. Perform 10 burpees.
  • Run to the next major line in the field (line was approx. in between goal box and midfield) and back to the goal line. Perform 20 merkins.
  • Run to midfield and back to the goal line. Perform 30 air squats.
  • Run to the next goal box line on opposite side of the field and back. Perform 40 LBCs.
  • Run to the opposite goal line. Perform 50 SSHs.

Do the work individually, but meet at opposite end — hold an air squat for the 6.

Recover for 30 seconds.

Repeat, but in reverse order: Suicides with 50 SSHs, then 40 LBCs, then 30 air squats, then 20 merkins, and finish with 10 burpees down on the opposite end of the field.

Thang 2: Tri-Corner Runs

Starting on one corner, we ran (as a group) past three corners of the soccer field. At the third corner, we did 25 star jumps. Then we ran three more corners, and did 25 diamond merkins. Then, three more corners & 25 big boy sit-ups. After three last corners, we ended with 15 Bonnie Blairs (alpha count).

With about 8 minutes to spare, YHC added in an Indian Run at the end (don’t worry, we took the long run back to the flag).  With 90 seconds to spare, a little WW2 sit-ups and American Hammers to soak our backsides — that squishy sound during those sit-ups will be with me all day.

COT:

After the count-off, we circled-up and shared prayer requests & announcements.  Prayers for those affected by Covid & get ready for a Zohan Q-school on Thursday.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

We lived out one of F3’s core principles this morning: workouts are held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold.

YHC was honored to Q it up at Firehouse. Already pulled up the Q-sheet and grabbed the next slot in November. 😉
