9 Stood in the Rain

AO: The Rubicon

When: 08/17/2021

QIC: FannyPack

PAX (9): False Start, Ice-Tea, Pinkey, Fokker, Special K, Caffey, Lumbergh, PitStop, Fanny Pack

Preamble:

An open Q, a tropical storm, and a gauntlet thrown… one jerk steps up and makes it a wet morning for all.  No lightning in the forecast; only the rumble of mild complaint via Slack.  Would anyone show up?  With trepidation, YHC arrives at The Rubicon where our adventure begins.  Two cars already in the lot- are they PAX, or delinquents (or both?)?  A friendly hand wave through the cloudy windows allays my concerns.  More cars trickle in.  We step out into the storm and form a rough circle.  Two PAX stave off the storm with rain coats, while the rest jeered at the futile attempts to stay dry.  The stakes couldn’t have been higher.  Mumblechatter, commence.

Started off with a standard disclaimer & a reminder to watch our steps in the rain.

Warm-O-Rama:

9 PAX mosey’d (high knees and butt kickers) to a lot near the big flag for a round of SSH’s, Windmills, Imperial Walkers, Arm circles, and COVID’s.  Mosey to the FOD.

The Thang:

Rinse & Repeat of prior Q from the election last November.  Vicious Circles on the baseline, one to the Left, one to the Right.  Around the pitcher’s mound.

VC#1 was an alpha-count bear crawl counter-clockwise around the mound, with the last man doing 5 burpees on the mound then going to the front of the line.  Continue until all PAX have a turn.

VC#2 was a crab walk clockwise, with 30 alpha-count Freddy Mercuries on the mound.

Next up: ‘5’ Corners Escalator around the field.  Starting at home:

10 LBFC’s

20 Sumo Squats

30 Merkins

40 Bonnie Blairs (modified to lunges as needed)

50 American Hammers (back at home)

Then de-escalate back around the field.  The last four PAX at each corner station end early & advance to keep the group tight, AKA ‘final 4 catch up’.

We wrapped this up early, so we paired off and started an abbreviated Dora of 50 Captain Thor’s while partner runs to a nearby light pole.

Mosey back to the flag where Special K led us in Freddy Mercury’s and False Start led us in Superman’s.  False Start found the FOD to be more absorbent than the parking lot.  Very wet morning.

COT:

CSAUP this Saturday.  Prayers for all dealing with COVID & it’s effects; for our leaders to have wisdom; for us to be able to lead those around to true hope.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

This morning’s beatdown in the rain was a lot of fun.
