Pavilion Smoker: Where there is smoke there is fire

AO: The Norseman

When: 02/11/2020

QIC: Ha-ha

PAX (2): Callahan, Ha-ha

Preamble:

Wow, more rain! So much rain that Callahan traded in his car that was growing mold! With several of our regulars “on assignment” this morning, Callahan and I were there to hold down the fort. As I was setting up under our pavilion of pain I saw Callahan drive by to our normal meeting spot. So I ran over the hill to direct the PAX up to our fowl weather location.

It was pounding rain this morning. As I was setting up I kept having rain blowing under the pavilion. And then 0530 hit and the rain was gone. Well, that is okay because we had a real smoker under cover this morning.

Warm-O-Rama:

Starting the playlist for this morning, a collection of 80s tunes to keep us humming. We started off with Devo telling us to “Whip It“… into shape. Go forward. Move ahead.

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers

Now grab a Girlfriend for the morning and prepare for the Musical Dora…

The Thang:

  • As Dire Straits started “Money for Nothing” we paired up for our Musical Dora. For this song one partner starts 20 shoulder presses while the other partner does Bonnie Blairs. When first PAX completes 20 reps swap exercises. Continue until the song ends.
  • Song 2 started with the oriental theme of “China Girl” by David Bowie. The exercise pair was 20 curls and AMRAP Skull Crushers and swap until the song ends.
  • We got bombed next as The Gap Band sang “You Dropped The Bomb on Me“. 5 Bagpees (Burpee with an overhead press with the Girlfriend to end the Bagpee instead of the customary jump with hands over head). Partner does SSH. I needed more SSH.
  • Robert Palmer told us that she was “Simply Irresistible“. I guess she was. We were mostly seeing stars at this point. 20 Alpha count lunges were the “counting” exercise and the other PAX does Hammer Curls. I could not resist the pain in my arms. There is no telling where the money went.
  • As I was going blind for pain and exhaustion, Thomas Dolby started singing “She Blinded me with Science“. PAX 1 counts out 20 Presses and PAX 2 is back on Bonnie Blairs. Flapjack when the count is reached and continue on until the song is over. Poetry in motion. Her, not us.
  • Continuing our tour through the 80s songs about girls… J Giles Band cranked up “Centerfold”. PAX 1 counts out 5 PCMB (Prison Cell Merkin Burpees) and PAX 2 does AMRAP Jump Squats until the other is done. Yes, those are both some rather cardio intensive exercises. Yes.they.were. My blood ran cold. My memory has just been sold. Like I have any memory left to sell…..
  • We could see the end of the list but we still had a couple of more songs to go and this exercise pair was a crowd pleaser! PAX 1 does 20 Alpha count hop over the bag (both feet together) while PAX 2 does Skull Crushers. Yes, out of breath AND arms like Jello. The Cars told us that she is “Just What I Needed”. I need Oxygen. I don’t mind you comin’ here and wastin’ all my time. Cause then I can catch my breath!
  • Finally. Michael Jackson was sing “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough”. Apparently enough takes 6 minutes and 5 seconds on this edit. While MJ sings we drop for 20 Merkins while our partner does SSH. Swap after reaching 20. And continue for 6 minutes and 5 seconds. What idiot thinks up these routines? Keep on with the force don’t stop, don’t stop till you get enough.
  • Men Without Hats welcomed us to the Mary portion of our beatdown. Yes! I get to lie on cold wet concrete! As they sang “Safety Dance” We did LBCs and Box Cutters. And we are done. You can dance if you want to, you can leave your friends behind. But it’s time to go.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

You know you work up a “under cover” plan and then no rain! But it poured all night. Good to see Callahan and to get a smoker in today.
