80’s AMRAP on the Road

AO: The Galaxy

When: 03/24/2020

QIC: Grease Monkey

PAX (8): Virginia Slim, Tweaker, Sparky, Fondue Guy, Steamer, Cha-Ching, Wide Right

Preamble:

Needing a little motivation for increased posting frequency I noticed an open Q spot with the Wreck’s “Brothers from another Mother” over at The Galaxy. With a surprising minimal amount of coaxing, Slim decide to join so we made a little road trip with some cinders. Worth mentioning COVID-19 has us at an alt location Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. No idea what the lay of the land might be there but all we needed was a parking lot.

Warm-O-Rama:

A very short jaunt around the parking lot (later receiving mumble chatter from Slim) and we circled up for some SSH, Plank Jacks, Shoulder Taps, Peter Parkers and some Windmills. Then it was time to get to work.

The Thang:

Gifts for all were handed out from the Sweat Wagon. With MCUs in hands we lined up at opposing ends of the parking lot lines being sure to maintain safe social distancing guidelines. Then it was time for some AMRAPs. Two minutes each of 6 sets (:30 rest in between) with accompanying inspirational 80’s movie soundtracks:

  • Merkins – Theme from Rocky
  • Curls – Danger Zone; Top Gun
  • Big Boys – You’re the Best; Karate Kid
  • Thrusters – Eye of the Tiger; Rocky
  • Flutters (with block presses) – Maniac; Flash Dance
  • Burpees – Imperial March; Empire Strikes Back

Then we proceeded to line up at opposing ends of the parking lot lines to do the following:

  • 10 reps of dips on blocks; bear crawl to opposite end; repeat reps; crab walk back: 70 reps total
  • 10 reps of Kettle Bell Swings; lunge to opposite end; repeat reps; lunge back; 70 reps total
  • 10 reps of Skull Crushers bear crawl to opposite end; repeat reps; crab walk back; 70 reps total

Finished with just enough time to unload cinders and get back to the flag for a quick set of Diamonds.

COT:

Prayers for Wide Right’s father -in-law Mike and friend Shirley, both going through cancer treatments.

Prayers for a cure to the current virus

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Always fun to visit other AOs, spread the Q love and meet some new faces. Who knew it would be the last for a while. Stay strong brothers.
