YHC celebrated a birthday yesterday, and there is no better way to start the year off right than by leading 11 other men in the 37 degree weather. Bundled up for the weather, outer layers were shed as the internal temps began to rise.
Asked by Sneakers if we would be coming back to the lot after a mosey/warm up, he didn’t want to drag his jacket around the whole time. Assuring him we would be back, we moseyed around the lot, and back to the flag for some warm up exercises. SSH, Windmill, Arm Circles, Hillbillys. Mosey over to Perimeter’s soccer fields.
Four Corners – YHC arrived before the beatdown and placed cones to form a large square. We visited each corner several times and performed the following exercises OYO:
Squats/ modified to Bobby Hurleys (jump squats)
Big boy situps
We started with 20 reps at each location, decreasing by 5 each time. For the third round (10 reps), another location was added in the middle, where we finished with 7 burpees. That round required 47 reps, which equals my age.
Next we grumbled over to the steps to do 150 calf raises. 50 with toes pointed out, 50 regular, and 50 with toes pointed in. Over to Chapel Hill for bear crawls, Bernie Sanders, and sprints up the hill. As we headed back to the Twisted Taco, we stopped for BTTW and SSH. Finish at the flag for some Moby bringing Sally up and down.
Both Popper and I had a friend/coworker who passed away suddenly on Friday. Two families without dads, husbands, sons, and brothers. Others of us have parents with health issues, work stress, family stress, etc.
I’m thankful for the 47 trips I’ve made around the sun, and looking forward to my 48th. Remember to keep looking out for each other. I hope we can all say that it hasn’t gotten easier, but we are stronger. I know I am stronger for knowing all of you.
