Preamble:

This is the story of the launch of F3 Alpha’s newest AO, The Storm. A name which was derived from Greek mythology. The AO is located in the multi use complex in south Forsyth/north Fulton called Halcyon.

In Greek mythology, there lived a queen named Halcyon, who was married to the king Ceyx of Tachis. The two were madly in love. However, while on a quest to defend their love, the king was killed at sea. The Storm that took his life, is the very storm we decided to name this AO after. We intend to use this AO to reach as many sad clowns as possible. Thus, we will fight sad clown syndrome and defend the Core Principles with the same degree of passion and intensity as the mortal king Ceyx of Tachis….

That is the story we are going with, anyways. Really, “The Storm” just sounds super cool and loosely ties back to something found in a google search! 🙂

With much hype for this launch over the last week, YHC was beginning to feel a bit nervous, with fear the result would not live up to the hype…that was not the case.

Warm-O-Rama:

As the light rain began to fall and the Pax made their way towards the flag located in the Eye of The Storm, YHC started the playlist. Pre-BD, the Halloween them song was played, and good mumble chatter was had. Once the clock struck 5:30, we set off towards the main parking lot. Looping back around and past the Eye, we circled up for the following; during which the song “Apocalypse Please” by Muse began to play…the Pax had no idea what was coming..

  • SSH IC x16
  • Sun Gods IC x10
  • Freddie Kruegers (mercury) x10 – moans and groans from the pax trying to “stay dry”
  • Frankensteins IC x10 (maybe…at least YHC planned to do this)

Enough of this. Mosey toward the chess board.

The Thang:

Arriving at the chess board, or rather the nice gravel area adjacent to the chess board, we circled up for our first Thang, but not before YHC laid the storyline out for the Pax, as follows – Keeping with the Halloween theme, we would be experiencing a zombie apocalypse. After being taken out by zombies, we would then go through a series of unfortunate events and zombie training programs before we too could rise from the dead.

Thang 1:

The Burpee Apocalypse. Completed to “It’s the end of the world as we know it” by REM. All Pax in a circle, we started with 10 burpees, then 9, 8, 7, …1, taking a 5 second “break” in between each round. Props to Snake for completing the entire thing in his full body fleece dragon costume!

The remainder of the BD was accompanied by the following songs:

  • Dragula – Rob Zombie
  • Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr.
  • This Is Halloween – Marilyn Manson
  • Zombie – Bad Wolves (so much cooler than OG Cranberries version)
  • I Walked With A Zombie – Roky Erickson
  • Feed My Frankenstein – Alice Cooper
  • Sweet Dreams – Marilyn Manson
  • Monster – Skillet
  • Mr. Crowley – Ozzy Osbourne

Thang 2

We Catch-Me-If-You-Can’d (with Bonnies and NUR) our way up to the back side of the parking deck. There we circled up for our first unfortunate event…Gut Busters. While listening to Ghostbusters, we held a plank for the entire song. Every time we hear “ghostbusters” we deposited 1 Big Boi. Every time we heard “I ain’t afraid of no ghosts” we Plank Jack’d in rhythm. Up for some footwork drills up and down the parking spot lines before moseying to the next Thang. It is imperative, as a zombie, to work on footwork.

Thang 3

Quick mosey out the parking deck, through the Eye….wait, squats for six, okay go…, and down the stairs to the entrance fountain. Circle up for our next unfortunate event…Jack-(o’-lanter) Webbs. 1 Merkin:4 Overhead Claps…all the way to 10:40. As far as counting goes, YHC is good for about 1-15, after that things got weird. Next, we lined up on the stairs for 3 minutes straight of Balboas before executing some Modified Zombie Crawls. Since there was no good area to perform a proper Zombie Crawl, we partnered up and took turns Wheelbarrowing up the stairs.

Thang 4 (and such)

Next to Last in our training we would perform Zombie Walks all the way to Cherry Street Brewing (about 125 yards maybe). Hit up the Exicon for explanation. Finally, our last event, Batwings! You’re welcome Whiz.

Now that our training is compete it is time to Rise From The Dead, ie: Seal Sit-ups IC to 20. Ayeee time to celebrate, now AYG one lap around the Eye before we circled up at the flag for 2 minutes of Mary.

COT:

Prayers for multiple Pax and their families battling illness. Pray for ability to reach sad clowns in the area. Give thanks for new AO.

Grab a quick pic then celebrate with coffeteria in the parking lot!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

We had Pax from all over come out for this launch, some of which YHC hadn’t posted with in the past. It was awesome to see all the support we received for this place. It was even better to see the excitement in all the Pax for not only the launch, but for the future of the AO. There seems to be a spark lit in them HIM of Alpha-North lately. YHC looks forward to keeping this momentum moving forward. And always, much thanks to my F3 Brothers for always holding me accountable and pushing me to be better.
