This V was ready, but not necessarily eager, to give up his V card. But as these things typically go, with a lot of peer pressure, a little instruction from those with tons of experience, and a few drinks (the night before) it was time to do the Thang.

This brisk morning begged for a nice mosey at 0530 to get everyone warmed up and sweaty. Early complaints of pace subsided and the Pax all stayed in close proximity. We ran in place for the six so we could get to the good stuff at the same time.

Warm-O-Rama:

  • 15 SSH
  • 12 Weed Pickers
  • 12(ish) Imperial Walkers
  • 20 seconds of Michael Phelps (first awkward moment, there were bound to be a few)

Moleskin interjection – Oddly enough – the W-O-R was the most awkward part. Mostly because everyone is staring at you, (good visual of leadership) but in this case, they all know it is your first time, you want to enjoy it, you want them to enjoy it, but you also want to just get the first time over with…and you’re stuck in the middle thinking “what could go wrong in the next 39 min???”

The Thang:

Time to get down to it. YHC suggested a reasonable rock, to lift and to move with, so to the rock piles we went. This is when I learned it is called a marrying rock. Whatever, I love how these freaking rocks are always a point of debate. Seriously, avoid grumpy snakes, get your stone and get to the football field.

We got down with a series of exercises determined by the yardage for rounds 1 and 2. Pax were to carry coupon overhead for round 1, in front, extended for round 2.

  • 10 – Mercs with 1 hand on rock
  • 20 – BBS with rock
  • 30 – Skull Crushers
  • 40 – Squats
  • 50 – Curls
  • 40 – Lunges
  • 30 – Overhead press
  • 20 – BBS with coupon
  • 10 – Mercs with 1 hand on rock

To split things up we dropped our stones and did alternating 25 y Run->25 y High Skip -> Run -> HS and then returned with a 50y run -> 50y sprint.

Rounds 3-4 used yardage for our count again (mostly), the Pax completed:

  • 25 – Romanian deadlifts
  • 50 – Rows
  • 25 – Romanian deadlifts
  • 25 – LBC w/ coupon
  • Rinse and Repeat

Just over 5 min to COT, it was time to get our stones off our hands and get back to the flag. With a spirited (after all the mumble chatter subsided) Indian run back to the flag, there were only 15 seconds to spare…Mary will have to wait.

COT:

Squeegee requested a Bieber themed workout on Friday. We’re still not sure if that is really because it is @Bieber’s VQ or if that is just what was on his mind this morning.

A solid group is forming for the Assault on Big Creek Saturday

Prayers:

  • Foley and wife are due for 2.3 in May and have had a recent pregnancy loss
  • Continued prayers for family/friends/students of RHS teacher lost in a tragic accident
