The one where it rained cats and dogs and Ha-ha made it up as we went along

AO: The Norseman

When: 07/23/2019

QIC: Ha-ha

PAX (2): Nacho Libre, Ha-ha

Preamble:

It was a typical summer morning. The street was dry at my house. 3 miles later there was a light drizzle at the AO. While I was waiting for a second PAX to show the bottom fell out! Pounding rain as I sat in trusty Truck Norris the Land Cruiser. And then just like clockwork, Nacho came rolling in to the AO parking lot. I guess we are getting wet.

Now I don’t mind getting wet so much when it is 70 degrees outside. Beats the heck out of 40 and raining! It is just the getting out of the truck and that initial shock of the rain. But we were quickly wet and it was time to mosey.

Warm-O-Rama:

We mosied up to the big lot and performed the standard F3 required:

  • SSH
  • Weed Pickers
  • Imperial Walkers

Then we mosied over to the play ground.

The Thang:

11’s

Elevens with pull ups and merkins to get us going this morning. The pull ups were surprisingly challenging this morning. After knocking those out from 1-10 and 10-1 we mosied over to Turf Field #1.

4 Corners

Now YHC had a morning routine planned but with so much rain coming down I did not want to get the girlfriends out (they do not like getting their hair wet). So as the rain was slowing to a trickle an audible was called for 4 corners:

  • Corner 1: 10 Merkins
  • Corner 2: 10 Merkins, 20 Squats
  • Corner 3: 10 Merkins, 20 Squats, 30 LBCs
  • Corner 4:10 Merkins, 20 Squats, 30 LBCs, 40 Lunges

Dips and Step Ups

We then ran over to the benches on the side of the field and did Dips IC and then ran across to the other side and did Step Ups IC. Rinse and repeat.

Ever notice how when you are making it up as you go time crawls?

Mosied out to the flag and ran backwards up to the top of the hill by the Miracle League field and ran forward back.

Mary

Mary consisted of about every ab exercise you can think of:

  • LBC
  • Flutter
  • Freddy Mercury
  • Dieing Cockroach
  • Box Cutter
  • Dolly
  • Oblique left and right

COT:

Thanks for safe travels and prayers for those still on vacation.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

This was one of those days that I was not going to do it alone.

Hot or Cold, Rain or Shine

Today it was rain. Doing the harder things builds our resilience. It prepares us for when we have to to do the hard thing. Mental toughness. Its not hard to get wet. It is hard to do it with a good attitude and with purpose. Thanks, Nacho, for showing up this morning!
