AO: The Rubicon

When: 07/09/2019

QIC: Stroller (@f3_stroller)

PAX (13): Lefty, Trebek, Pitstop, Zima, MT, Cookie, Stifler, Devito, Bo Knows, TopHat, Lumbergh, Pinkey, Stroller

Preamble:

YHC was reviewing his Spearhead tracker on Sunday and noticed that he needed a Rubicon trip for some credits.  A quick check of the Q sheet revealed that there was no Q for Tuesday’s beatdown!  Seeing a double credit opportunity, I picked it up.  As I went to sleep on Monday night, I still had only the roughest outlines of the beatdown.  So when my alarm went off, I was in a bit of a panic.  As I brushed my teeth I found some clarity, and rolled into Wills Park with what I hoped would be a solid beatdown.

MT joined for a muggy pre-run, while Lefty and TopHat got in extra credit on their own.  As MT and I returned to the parking lot, there was a decent crowd, followed by an extra surge at 0529.

Warm-O-Rama:

Lap around the parking lot while Pitstop plants the flag.  Heading toward Brokeback Mountain, stop at the last parking lot for a warmup.  YHC was also immediately reminded that he neglected the disclaimer, so disclaimer was given prior to any further exercise.

  • SSH x 20
  • Weedpicker x 12
  • Imperial Walker x 15

Then it was time for one of YHC’s favorites, Rock Paper Scissors.  Partner up and play 10 rounds.  After each round, the winner does Mercans and the loser Burpees, increasing the count by 1 each round.  This one always brings a good mix of laughter giving way to yells of frustration during the later rounds.

The Thang:

Mosey to the base of the hill.  The routine would be simple: 15 Mercans at the bottom, 15 Freddie Mercurys (Alpha Count) at the top.  Plan for 4 rounds, which was plenty. The gazelles got in an extra trip up the hill while accompanying the six.

10 count and then onward.  Back to the flag with a stop in the middle to keep the group together.  Line up near the flag for Lt. Dan to fully smoke our legs.  Got 5 rounds in to the end of the parking lot, then turn back for one last burner.  Take a lap to loosen the legs back up and end back at the flag for Mary.

Mary included Buzzsaws, Boxcutters, and Obliques.  Cookie also led an exercise I am not sure the name of.  Buzzsaws really brought out the mumblechatter, with Devito offering tips on form. And that was all we had time for.

COT:

Prayers requested for Cookie and family, as they are dealing with the loss of 2 grandparents in the past month.  Grandfather’s funeral is today.

Praise for Bo Knows closing on a house. Happens to be right by East Roswell Park, so expecting him to be a Gladiator regular now.

2nd F this Thursday at Alpharetta Food Truck Alley

Naked-Man Moleskin:

Glad that the Spearhead got me out to the Rubicon, as it’s been too long.  Blessed to have the opportunity to lead these men this morning.  Thanks for putting up with me!
