When: 06/15/2020

QIC: Full Metal Jacket a.k.a. Sprocket

PAX (15): Juul, Bear, Squeegee, Aflac, OneCall, Switch, Tubbs, Rooney, Sellout, WhiteClaw, SmackDown, Raider, Windex, Squeak

Preamble:

Decisions, choices, priorities: some men are aware of such things, some men avoid them and some men don’t seem to be aware of them. Thanks to a true friend, YHC was introduced to F3 three years ago this week and YHC has been granted repeated opportunities to make better choices with regards to fitness, fellowship and faith. In order to commemorate the beginning of YHC’s involvement F3, a little extra planning went into this morning’s workout. It was YHC’s hope that the men of The Wreck wouldn’t be disappointed with a little extra work with which to begin their week.

Arrived early at the Wreck AO and can attest that The [White] Claw does pre-run workouts and does so solo; thatsaid, I know he’d appreciate some company. Donned my trusty armor plate carrier, announced to the Wreckers present that I was QIC this morning (though I had used an alias on the Q sheet), asked if there were any FNG’s present, and lead the PAX off to the football field parking lot for the following:

Warm-O-Rama:

SSHs, Mountain climbers, Cotton-pickers (YHC is from the land o’ cotton after all) and Imperial Walkers; 15 count each. Headed over to my old faithful ‘Yota pickup to grab a couple of coupons in the form of a G.I. duffel with chains (50# dry) and sandbag (45# dry) and then down to the field.

The Thang:

All PAX lined up on the goal line with the G.I. duffle on the left sideline and sandbag on right sideline. On the Q’s mark, PAX nearest the bags dragged or carried the bags 200 yards while Q called out a exercise to be performed. After the carry or drag was complete, the PAX passed the duffle or sandbag to the PAX next to him, and so on down the line. The cycle of calisthenics included: Merkins, Stone Mtn Merks, Diamond Merks, Squats, Lunges, LBCs, Flutter kicks, Peter Parkers, Parker Peters, OH (overhead press). During the course of this part of the WO, these exercises were cycled through at least two times giving all PAX the opportunity to carry the sandbag and drag the G.I. duffle. Once completed, the PAX exited the football field, returned the sandbag and duffel to the ‘Yota and proceeded to the playground.

Once near the playground, all PAX selected a coupon and proceeded to get down to business with the following circuit: 20 overhead press with coupon, 5 pull ups, 5 knee ups, 5 burpees and 20 squats with coupon. PAX completed between 3-4 rounds before time was called and coupons returned. With a short run back to the flag, one (long) round of Mary was performed before time was called.

COT:

Good to see the number of PAX steadily increasing at the Wreck. An invite was made to everyone to join YHC at one of Alpha North’s newer AOs: Bad Apple, which meets at Sweet Apple Elementary school near the Alpha-Roswell border Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

After three years of bootcamp beatdowns, runs, rucks and rides (not to mention a CSAUP challenge or two), YHC has come to two solid conclusions: 1) men need all three of the elements of which F3 is comprised. Few other organizations or groups can meet the needs of the three “F”‘s in a man’s life. Even more so, 2) all the physical strength, endurance and mental toughness developed by F3 WOs can primarily serve either a man himself, OR, it can serve his family, community and society at large. I’m going to argue that service IS an F3 man’s natural state. I can’t help but think that this activity [service to others] is among the most ennobling actions a man can take. Perhaps I’m the only PAX that thinks this, but, I’m willing to bet I’m not. I’m proud to suffer in the good company of my brothers in the gloom and count it an honor to lead them. Sprocket out.
