Merkin Monday -or- Always with the backtalk!

AO: The Hooch

When: 03/09/2020

QIC: Saint2O

PAX (18): Boomer, Readymix, Ballboy, Waterboy, Animal, Asterisk, Sunshine, Scrooge, Singlet, Splinter, Doughboy, Pooh Bear, Feathers, Homer, Birdie, Julius, Puff Daddy, Saint2O

Preamble:

After a pleasant SLR, YHC noticed a good group of PAX assembling with lots of energy, and obviously this would be a wild group that would have to be tamed.

Quick disclaimer, no FNGs, but a couple RNGs (Aye!) were there.

Also noticed that even though it was “National Meatball Day”, our Meatball was noticeably absent 🙁

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey around the parking lot and then stopped by what was formerly known as Hurricanes for some Warmup.

SSH – IC
Alternating shoulder taps – IC
Peter Parkers – IC
Angle Grinder – after about 4 IC, YHC noticed the PAX were confused and began having trouble, so halt was called, and we then switched to:
Back planks – until the PAX quieted down (it worked well)

The Thang:

Then mosey over toward the church parking lot, once we crossed the street, we lined up for a Bataan Death March.

This was an Indian run, except the last PAX drops and does 5 burpees, then runs and taps the last man on the shoulder for his turn as he’s running to the front. We made sure this was a slow mosey, and did the entire length of the parking lot to the track and back to the chapel parking lot. Finished up perfectly at the right location as if it was planned that way 🙂

Next, we did Super 21 Loops. This was 21 Merkins, 21 Squats, and 21 BBS, then run a loop around the parking lot, next drop to 20 of each, and so on. It got easier and easier as you went along!

When time got short, we moseyed back toward the flag, stopping for some walking lunges, and then run two lines across the parking lot and do 10 merkins, repeat until you got to the flag. The PAX really liked this.

Then some American Hammer for the last minute to get to 6:15!

Someone counted 413.3 merkins total today, with various varieties. Good work men!

COT:

Prayers for health and healing (and good weather ahead)!

Naked-Man Moleskin:

It was an honor to lead today, I really enjoy it, especially the interaction during. Thank you all for showing up and working hard!

Also, besides it being National Meatball Day, YHC noticed that it was also “National Napping Day”. There’s your excuse, go enjoy it!
