Preamble:

YHC queued a Led Zeppelin themed beatdown way back in January 2020. Feels like almost a year ago. Time to do it again, earning this beatdown’s title of Led Zeppelin II, which is also one of YHC’s favorite Zeppelin albums.

Two pre-runners rounded the Hooch home stretch. Circle up, disclaimer, and off.

Warm-O-Rama:

Mosey around parking lot with side-to-side, high knees, and butt kickers.

Finish mosey behind defunct Twisted Taco parking lot. YHC started a Led Zeppelin playlist. PAX circled up for:

  • SSH x 15
  • Weed Picker x 10
  • Hillbilly x 10
  • Moroccan Night Club x 10

The Thang:

Thang 1: BLIMPS

Still in circle, proceed with the following sequence:

  • 5x Burpees
  • 10x Lunges (each leg)
  • 15x Imperial Walker
  • 20x Merkins
  • 25x Plank jacks
  • 30x Squats

At the end of each round, air chair for the six. 3x total rounds of this delightful routine.

Thang 2: Bearway to Heaven

This is arguably one of the hardest routines in the F3 Exicon. One PAX recalled that we apparently agreed last year to never again Q Bearway to Heaven at The Hooch. Mumble chatter. Well YHC forgot, okay? More mumble chatter.

As all PAX clearly heard the disclaimer to not sue YHC, we began this bear crawl suicides routine free of litigation. PAX were encouraged to challenge themselves, do as much bear crawl as they could, yet modify-as-necessary so as not to be reckless.

  • Bear crawl out-and-back seven increasing lengths. 1 length = 2 parking lines.
  • Upon the return of each length, burpee a descending rep count, 7 to 1
  • The work:
    • Round 1: Bear crawl 2 spaces out, bear crawl 2 spaces back, 7 burpees
    • Round 2: Bear crawl 4 spaces out, bear crawl 4 spaces back, 6 burpees
    • Round 7: Bear crawl 14 spaces out, bear crawl 14 spaces back, 1 burpee
  • Much encouragement uttered among the PAX throughout this killer. Many PAX bear crawled the entire thing (including YHC).
  • When finished, Mary IC until the 6 was in.

Thang 3: Stairway to Seven

Short mosey to nearby hill for Robert Plant’s up/down the hill to street level and back to parking lot level.

  • Bottom: 1 burpee, 1 decline merkin; Top: 1 Squat jump
  • Bottom: 2 burpees, 2 decline merkins; Top: 2 Squat jumps
  • Bottom: 7 burpees, 7 decline merkins; Top: 7 Squat jumps

After Thangs 1 & 2, Thang 3 required quite the fortitude to get through.

Mary: Asheville Abs

Mosey back to the flag

Asheville abs IC

  • 10 4-count LBC, birth position
  • 10 4-count LBC, BBS position
  • 10 4-count LBC, LBC position
  • 10 4-count LBC, heels-to-heaven position

Rinse and repeat in reverse order, elbow to opposite knee. Cut counts to 5 apiece for time on the way back down. No clear tie to Zeppelin here other than YHC imagines Zeppelin is a frequent musical accompaniment in Asheville’s vibrant craft beer scene.

COT:

Sign up for F3 Alpha’s February challenge, Climb Kili, for which F3 Splinter (Dave Burgess) is Nant’an. (There’s a Climb Kili t-shirt available for purchase at the signup link too which, so get you some swag).

Prayers, praises, and thanksgiving for various friends & family esp. with health/medical related developments. Thanks be to God for a long-awaited answer to a prayer lifted from the trenches.

Naked-Man Moleskin:

These strong PAX took on a monumental test of toughness, and they passed. Strong work, men. YHC is proud and thankful to be counted among your numbers.
