As YHC was reminded, “If they’re not complaining, you’re not doing it right”. The adage held true this morning and notwithstanding the occasional sarcastic “May I have another”, 15 PAX worked up a sweat on a moist but altogether mild 45-degree morning at the pavilion.
A quick mozy around the track, mixing in slides right, slides left, high knees and butt-kickers.
Start with 3 rounds of Wall of Pain:
Partner up, one man on the wall (People’s Chair) while partner does:
- 10 Merkins
- 10 LBCs
- 10 Burpees
(PAX on North side noted that wet concrete is not ideal for wall sits)
On to Four Corners for 3 more rounds:
- 15 Squat Jacks
- 15 Slide Touches
- 15 Merkins
- 15 Crab cakes
(Lunge on long sides)
First round: No problem
Second round: Switch to lunges on short sides
Third round: Change Merkins to Burpees (thank you sir, may I have another?)
YHC planned on an extended Mary session but this was going to be ridiculous so time for some filler. The PAX doubted but I planned for this contingency so YHC harkened back to high school basketball practice for some rapid fire modified up/downs.
Circle up, keeping the feet moving, on command:
- “UP”: Two jumping knee slaps
- “DOWN”: Burpee
We had time for three rounds but the mumblechatter was drowning out the music. Slight change of plans on the third round, a Merkin instead of a Burpee! Let it be known that dropping into a Merkin from a standing position and then returning to said standing position is remarkably similar to aforementioned Burpee (minus the final, usually unenthusiastic, jump). Alas, the mumblechatter increased.
Ten minutes left for Mary! I feel Mary has been neglected this week so time to make up for it.
- Gas Pumpers
- American Hammers
- Box Cutters
- Pickle Pounders
- LBC Flutters
- Saturday Night Specials (Reverse PP’s?)
- Big Boy Situps
- Dying Cockroach
- Gas Pumpers (and we’ve come full circle)
COT: Popper’s getaway with the M, Hamburglar’s successful first week of posts, Homer’s upcoming time with daughter (Maggie?) while the M and others are out of town, Simba’s M doing better after kidney infection, JHi retreat could use prayers for the kids and the leaders.
Great having Simba back and our FNG, Hamburglar has graduated to RNG status! Thanks guys, honored as always.
